Home, Condo and Renters Insurance Discount

Do you know that you can get multi-policy discount for having and Automobile Policy and a Renters, Home or Condo Policy. The discount can be up to 15% off depending on the policy. In addition to covering your personal belongings for fire damage, these policy gives you additional protection for theft of your belongings even if not at your home.  Howeowner policies will also cover damage caused by such things (perils) as  windstorms, hail, lightning or vandalism.  Typically, floods and earthquakes are excluded but you can purchase additional policies to cover Earthquake damage both to you home and personal belongings.

A homeowner should also make sure the policy they have is a HomeOwners Policy and not just a Dwelling Fire Policy. Many times people will purchase a Dwelling Fire Policy, as this is all that is required by a Mortgage Company and these typically cost less than a home policy, however they do not qualify you for the multi-policy discount and does not give you coverage for your belongings unless you add addition coverage but will only cover in the event of a Fire. Having the right policy is important so take the time to review what you have.
